Kyle Wiltjer from Kentucky has won StatSheet's SEC Player of the Week for February 4th. StatSheet's SEC Freshman of the Week goes to Nerlens Noel from Kentucky. And last but not least, Kentucky's Kyle Wiltjer has won StatSheet's SEC 6th Man of the Week. Wiltjer registered huge numbers in shooting (50%), rebounding (6 per game), and scoring (18 pts per game). The Kentucky sophomore played well for the Wildcats in victories against 16th ranked Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
Wiltjer topped all scoring and rebounding for the Wildcats with 26 points and 7 rebounds in an 87-74 shocker over Ole Miss. He followed that up with 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in a narrow 72-68 victory over Texas A&M.
This is the first time this season that Kyle Wiltjer has been selected StatSheet SEC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Ole Miss junior Marshall Henderson. Honorable mention goes to senior Julius Mays from Kentucky. Ray Turner finished 12th and was the highest ranking player from Texas A&M.
StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week: Kentucky's Nerlens Noel
Nerlens Noel averaged 38 minutes of playing time starting both games for Kentucky. He led all SEC freshmen in both rebounding (10.5 per game) and blocked shots (7.0 per game). In the win over Ole Miss, Noel led the Wildcats in rebounding with 7 and added 12 blocked shots. Then in the win against Texas A&M, he led all scoring and rebounding, putting up 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Amazingly, Nerlens Noel has won the StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week 5 times. Archie Goodwin from Kentucky gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Michael Qualls from Arkansas.
StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week: Kentucky's Kyle Wiltjer
Kyle Wiltjer, a 6-10 Sophomore forward, averaged 33 minutes over the two games for the Wildcats. In the win against Ole Miss, Wiltjer led all Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 26 and 7 respectively. During the win over Texas A&M, he racked up 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
This is the first StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week win for Kyle Wiltjer. Earnest Ross, a junior guard from Missouri, is the runner up. Andrew Steele, a senior guard from Alabama, receives honorable mention. Texas A&M has won the StatSheet SEC Player of the Week award once this season.
